For this virtual session, we have invited Nathan Bryon, BIFA & BAFTA-nominated co writer of Rye Lane (2023) and Laura Carreira, the BAFTA-winning writer of On Falling (2024), to lead a session on the craft and language of writing for Film.

The writers will take us on the process and fundamentals of crafting their award-winning feature screenplays, the session will explore all aspects of the craft around plot, characterisation, theme, structure and dialogue. The session will also cover writing outlines, treatments and the key stages of developing a feature length screenplay.

How do you build the world of your characters on the page? How do you develop an idea into a script? How do you map out a story? The session will also explore how to best approach producers, development execs and agents that will ultimately take your work from script to screen.

The session is for writers embarking on their feature screenplays who want to create believable and compelling characters on screen.
