For our final DAILIESESSONS of the year, BAFTA winning producer Fiona Lamptey and BIFA nominated producer Archie Pearch will both lead a session that explores the craft and process of Producing for the Screen.

With productions of groundbreaking UK original films at Netflix and a Cannes Winning feature film, Fiona and Archie will break down the language of long-form producing across Film and TV. The producers will explore the journey of going from short films to your debut feature, navigating creative challenges on set, balancing bigger budgets, tight schedules amidst the current film-making climate in the UK.

How do you navigate creative working relationships with funders like BFI, FILM 4, BBC FILM and Netflix? How do you deal with marketing, distribution when the film has been completed? What are the skills and qualities one needs to possess in order to become a proficient producer?

FIONA LAMPTEY

From October 2020 to June 2023, Fiona Lamptey held the role of Director of UK Film at Netflix, where she led the charge in orchestrating the development and production of groundbreaking UK original films. Within her illustrious Netflix portfolio, Fiona curated exceptional works Including the BAFTA-nominated THE WONDER, starring Florence Pugh, the triumphant crime thriller I CAME BY by Babak Anvari, and THE KITCHEN a captivating collaboration co-directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya.

Before Netflix, Fiona commenced her career at Channel 4, starting in the Commercial Affairs Department, overseeing documentary, reality and live sports programming before venturing into the dynamic world of feature films. In 2013, she founded Fruit Tree Media, a company dedicated to discovering and nurturing new voices in British cinema. Fiona was a co-producer on the critically acclaimed SITTING IN LIMBO, which was nominated and won Best Single Drama and garnered her a BAFTA award.

In June 2024, she Co-founded Juno Studios—a bold, boundary-pushing production company that dares to do things differently: inventive in its creative output, fearless in its storytelling, and intentional in discovering and elevating talent.

ARCHIE PEARCH

Pearch started his career with a work experience stint at Working Title before moving to Heyday Films in 2018 to work as David Heyman’s assistant; while there, he worked on projects such as Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, White Noise, Wonka and Barbie.

He produced Harris Dickinson’s short film 2003, which played at BFI Flare and BFI London Film Festival in 2021. Pearch and Dickinson formed the production company Devisio Pictures and are quietly building a busy slate of about 20 projects at various stages of development.

Their feature URCHIN (2025) written and directed by Dickinson had its world premiere at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section where Frank Dillane, the film’s lead was awarded the Best Actor prize. The film received 6 nominations for the 2025 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).
