Reframing & Redefining Coming-of-Age Stories in the Continent.

For this edition of DAILIES, we screened a broad selection of enthralling shorts that seek to challenge tales of masculinity and the devastating costs of war, from the lens of the younger generation. The illuminating shorts, set across the continent were helmed by film-makers dedicated to translating their own unique African stories on screen.

The compelling shorts, set within the microcosm of urban and rural spaces in the continent are culturally specific but equally transcend boundaries and barriers. They explore a realm of topics around childhood and coming-of-age stories that challenge the notion of love, identity and violence. How does a nation’s traumatic past influence it’s emerging generation? How does one come of age in an unforgiving and relentless landscape?
