South London: Reframing Stories of Community and Collective Identity in the Diaspora.

We hosted a screening of witty and compelling shorts that interrogated the changing landscape of South London through the lens of it’s inhabitants.

What role do cultural spaces like Barber Shops, Hair Salons, Fast Food eateries and community halls play in maintaining a sense of collective identity? How have they shaped and influenced the community? The subsequent discussion dissected the stories set within this evolving landscape, the conflicting ideals of gentrification and finally, the notion of carving one’s identity in an adopted homeland.
