Dreams Deferred: Reframing Stories of Migration and Displacement on Screen.

We programmed a screening of award-winning work at Genesis Cinema. The shorts explored tales of harrowing personal tragedies, love, survival and dreams of a prosperous future in an adopted homeland. The selected shorts dissects a myriad of powerful and emotional stories that interrogates the notion of home, identity and resilience.

What compels an individual to leave the place of their birth of pastures new? How do they navigate the dreams that compelled them to leave or to remain behind. How does memory, trauma and the past shape the present and hopeful future?
